World Book Day 2024

We had a wonderful day off timetable celebrating World Book Day! We did not dress up as book characters this year, we would rather families spent money on books than costumes, therefore pupils came to school in pyjamas to signify the importance of bedtime stories.

During the course of the day pupils shared stories and took part in book based activities to promote a love of reading. There was a wonderful buzz about the school all day.

Older children read stories to younger pupils and each class selected a book to focus on and created a wonderful display inspired by the book.

We also had a book swap where pupils brought in books from home which they no longer wanted and every pupil was given the opportunity to choose a book to take home, alongside their new World Book Day Book.

In the weeks leading up to World Book Day we held a story writing competition and the winner was announced in the whole school Collective Worship.
