Thurston held our MFL Day on Tuesday 30th January and everyone had such a good time exploring new languages from different continents. EYFS focused on France and learning ‘Head, Shoulders. Knees and Toes’ in French and ate ‘pain et fromage’ with their parents at the end of the day.
In KS1, they focused on Europe, learning Italian, Spanish and German. They learnt songs, as well as making split pin puppets.
In LKS2, the children travelled to Asia, learning about origami dragons with Chinese New Year, learnt Muay Thai from Thailand and Japanese calligraphy. In UKS2, they focused on the most widely-spoken languages in Africa – Arabic and Swahili. They created Arabic-inspired batik art and made and ate the healthy snack, hummus. In Swahili, the children learnt animal names and created wonderful animal carnival masks.
At the end of the day, parents were invited to come and see and hear about the children’s fantastic learning.
