Mystery Reader

Today we introduced ‘Mystery Reader’ to Key Stage One. Here at Thurston CE Primary Academy we highly value reading and work hard to promote a reading for pleasure culture. We know that parents play a huge role in encouraging this love of reading too. Mystery Reader allows parents to come in and become part of our reading culture. Parents have been asked to sign up to be a mystery reader and come into school just before home time to share a story with their child’s class. The children do not know who the mystery reader is until they arrive in the class so we had some very surprised children today when their parents where today’s ‘Mystery Reader.’

Parents in Early Years and Key Stage One will have a chance to sign up to be a ‘Mystery Reader’ on Wednesday’s throughout the year. We were thrilled how well the first session went and look forward to next time.
