London’s Burning!
This morning we had The Great Fire of Thurston! To finish our unit, show how quickly the fire spread and inspire our writing we set fire to a street of Tudor style houses. The result was lots of excitement and a huge dose of awe and wonder! We made the houses in our DT lessons and the children each added bits to several models and knew they wouldn’t be taking them home- we worked hard to ensure no one became too attached to the models!
The children were all very sensible and safe during the activity and Mr Bayes was pleased that we didn’t set fire to the new school building! This afternoon we spoke about fire safety with the children too. This has been a wonderful topic and we’re looking forward to finishing it off tomorrow with our drama workshop too.
