British Science Week in Year 5
Children in Year 5 visited Thurston Community College as part of British Science Week. They took part in a ‘Colourful Science’ demonstration where they learnt how acids and alkalis could be identified using universal indicator: acids turned red and alkalis turned purple. After the demonstration, the children experimented using vinegar and milk of magnesium to see which was an acid and which was an alkali. They also had a go at creating a ‘rainbow’ to show the PH scale.
